If they are plugged in using Ethernet cords: In order for them to communicate on the same network they need to be connected via an Ethernet cable.

To do this, hold down the Ctrl button and click the network icon in your system tray. A new window should come up that shows all the computers you have on your network. If it does not, then try restarting each computer and click View-->Network Neighbourhood or Network Places.

If they are connected wirelessly: Click the wireless icon in your system tray and select 'Add New Connection'. This should automatically find your second laptop if it is also set on a wireless connection.

You should have the opportunity to give it a name and enter the password for your router if you haven't completed this step during initial setup.

If that did not work: Go to the system tray again, but this time click 'Network Connections'. Click 'Add' and choose 'Create a new connection to computer <name of second computer>'. Follow the step-by-step instructions.
Now you can close both windows and use your two computers as
